The UK is a parliamentary democracy with a fused executive-legislative structure, while China is a one-party authoritarian state with power concentrated in the Chinese Communist Party.
Overview
In the UK, the Prime Minister is drawn from and accountable to Parliament (no separation of executive and legislative personnel, unlike the US). In China, the Communist Party controls the state apparatus directly, with limited formal checks on its power and no meaningful multi-party competition.
