Kinematic Equations & Projectile Motion
The kinematic equations relate displacement, velocity, acceleration, and time for constant acceleration; projectile motion splits into independent horizontal and vertical components.
Overview
For constant acceleration, v = v₀ + at, x = x₀ + v₀t + ½at², and v² = v₀² + 2a(x-x₀). In projectile motion, horizontal velocity stays constant (no horizontal acceleration, ignoring air resistance) while vertical motion undergoes constant acceleration g — treat the two directions completely independently.
